MIC for Windows has updates. New version is 3.3.2. This update is to solve issue where you may face issue in copying EXIF metadata from original image to compressed image.
Geotagging issue with Windows 11
We have seen issues with Windows 11 (24H2) that when an image is edited, the geo-location data is removed. I have noticed this once you have modified “Location” service setting on ON/OFF. It triggers something which causes new images to loose location data. This seems Microsoft has messed something while trying to save you from accidentally exposing sensitive data to internet.
Effect on MIC
Mass Image Compressor (version before 3.3.2) utilised Microsoft .NET API to copy EXIF data to compressed image. This API no more copies EXIF data reliably.
Fix in MIC 3.3.2
Mass Image Compressor (version 3.3.2) now utilises exiftool to copy metadata (EXIF data). As exiftool does binary operation on image and copies chunk of data from original image to new image, it probably bypasses the issue.
How to Carry Metadata to Compressed Image
Update Mass Image Compressor to version 3.3.2. This version has a checkbox “Copy Metadata (EXIF)”. Check this checkbox and it will copy geotags (and other metadata such as camera model and settings applied while taking photo graph). MIS should let you copy all EXIF tags, including geotags, to the compressed image in any format (i.e. JPEG, PNG or WebP).
