Privacy Summary

Mass Image Compressor values your privacy. We don’t collect or transmit any data to servers; all data is stored locally on your device to provide a seamless experience. This data includes your compression counts, license information, and last-used settings. You have full control over this data and can clear it anytime via the ‘Clear Data and Close’ option.

We do not share your data with third parties. Payments are managed securely through Apple’s StoreKit2, and we adhere to strict data security practices to protect your information. For detailed information, please read our full privacy policy.

1. Introduction

Cognirush Labs LLP (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how Mass Image Compressor (the “Application”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. By using the Application, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

The Application does not collect or transmit any data to servers. All data is stored locally on your system for the functional operation of the Application. The following types of data are stored:

  • Number of Compressions: We store the count of compressions to prompt users to review the application. In future versions, we may collect this information anonymously for analytics or aggregate data purposes. However, explicit user consent will be obtained before any such data collection.
  • License Information: This data is stored locally to expedite startup and ensure the smooth operation of the Application.
  • Last Used Compression Settings: These settings are stored locally to allow the Application to relaunch with the same preferences as previously used.

Note: In the current version, no data is transmitted outside the local system.

3. EXIF Metadata Handling

Users with free access to the Application do not have the option to omit the application name in the EXIF comment tag. The EXIF comment tag will be populated with the Application name and the compression parameters used. No private information related to the user is added unless it already existed in the original image’s metadata. This information is not transmitted to any server.

4. Data Deletion

Since no data is collected on any server, we are not obligated to respond to data deletion requests. However, users can clear all locally stored data by using the ‘Clear Data and Close’ menu option (shortcut ⌘ + ⇧ + D). This action will reset all locally stored data, including compression counts, license information, and last-used settings.

5. Sharing of Data with Third Parties

We do not share any data with third parties as no data is collected or transmitted to external servers.

6. In-App Purchases & Payment Information

The Application uses Apple’s StoreKit2 library to manage and restore purchases. All payment processing and data management are handled directly by Apple. We do not collect or store any payment information.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Application does not collect any data specific to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

8. Data Security

To protect your data, sensitive information, such as the license expiration date, is encrypted before being stored locally. Subscription product information, however, is stored without encryption but remains secured within your local device.

We employ standard industry security practices to protect all data stored within the Application. Access to this data is restricted by macOS security, ensuring data isolation between different user accounts on the same device.

9. Privacy Policy Updates

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy as necessary. Any changes will be communicated through a new app version release, and the latest version of this Privacy Policy will always be available on our website.

10. Communication with Support

If you contact our support team via email or any other way, any information provided will be kept private. However, Cognirush Labs LLP reserves the right to publish user-provided information publicly or to regulatory bodies if required to protect our reputation or comply with legal requirements.

Application logs do not contain any user-specific or sensitive information, except for image paths in rare cases (such as logging a failure) and name of the product you have purchased (without any link to to your personal information). These logs are permanently deleted once support is complete, while we retain only non-sensitive metadata that does not include or link to any user information or image paths. Please note that we cannot access images on your computer through these image paths. We take user privacy very seriously and prioritize safeguarding your data.

Suggestions, ideas, or improvements submitted by users may be used freely within our organization without any claim to ownership or intellectual property rights by the user. These suggestions will be used without personally identifying the individual user.

If users submit any sample images for troubleshooting, we may retain them in our test database but will delete them upon receiving an explicit request via email containing the exact picture to be deleted.

11. Image Metadata Handling

The Application offers an option to copy metadata from the original image to the compressed image, excluding sensitive metadata (such as geolocation and serial numbers). While the Application makes every effort to exclude sensitive information, it is the user’s responsibility to verify that no sensitive metadata is included in the output file.

12. Data Storage

Data is stored locally, and the following subscription product information may be stored locally which may include product and your subscription information without any data linked to you. These data does NOT contain any data related to your account of payment information.

These data points are stored per user profile on macOS, ensuring they are isolated and not accessible across different user accounts.

13. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a local data breach, a new version of the Application will be released, and information will be promptly published on our website. As we do not collect users’ emails or use app notifications, this will be our primary method of communication. We will take all necessary measures to prevent future vulnerabilities and continuously improve our data security practices.

14. Compliance with Regulations

This Privacy Policy complies with Apple’s App Store privacy guidelines and relevant data protection regulations.

If you are an EU or California resident, you have the right to access, delete, or restrict the use of your data as per GDPR and CCPA guidelines. Since all data is stored locally and not transmitted to any server, you may exercise these rights by using the ‘Clear Data and Close’ option within the Application to delete your data.
